"Don't Be Evil"
UPDATE: It appears that Yahoo! and Google have merged!!! You can access the Yagoohoo!gle search portal at this secret location.
To celebrate this awesome news, I will be giving away Gmail invitations to everyone who posts a response to this update (while supplies last). Just be sure that your email address is included.
The movie industry has been trying - for some time - to come up with a truly effective way to provide movies for download, but none of the current services have really hit the mainstream yet. Most feel that an "iTunes for Hollywood" can be created, so Sony is trying to do just that.
"We want to set business models, pricing models, distribution models like (Apple Computer CEO Steve) Jobs did for music, but for the film industry," Michael Arrieta, senior vice president of Sony Pictures, said at the Digital Hollywood conference."
Currently, however, there are a lot of hurdles to overcome, including copy protection and a lack of compatible consumer devices. I'm confident, though, that we'll be seeing some sort of service rolled out within the next year and I can only believe it will begin with the PSP. Already, Sony has a section on its Connect.com website directed at PSP owners wanting to download video clips. One can imagine this section expanding until it encompasses entire films, music videos and educational content. Now, we'll have to see if it all comes to fruition.
While I'm on the topic of the PSP, I might as well share the news that there is a new update to "PSPhoto that will allow you to batch-convert image files from directories or ZIPs or RARs." Download it here.
