PS3: So Close...And Yet...

I'm not sure if you guys have been reading about it, but there was a huge hooplah this past weekend due to the fact that BestBuy.com put up a page for pre-ordering the PS3. The page wasn't actually accessible through the standard site links, but Froogle.com managed to find it via its many web searches. Anyway, once word got out, thousands upon thousands forked over their credit card info in the hopes that they would be able to get one of the systems, even considering that Best Buy generally doesn't do pre-orders. I was one of them and was crossing my fingers that at least a few of the orders would be processed and that mine would be one of them. Unfortunately, bad news arrived in my email in-box earlier today as Best Buy decided to cancel all of the pre-orders citing an error on the website. Needless to say, I was greatly disappointed. The only good thing that came out of it was the fact that Best Buy gave everyone who pre-ordered a $10 voucher. I wasn't expecting it, but I guess it's better than nothing. Apparently, the company is actually going to be doing online pre-orders at some point, but you can expect that they will come in the form of very expensive bundles. I'vev already seen Wii bundles going for $699 or more on some sights so I can only imagine what the PS3 ones will ring up at. $1000? $1300? Regardless of what it is, I'm sure there will be plenty of people out there who are willing to buy it. For me, I guess it's back to lining up at the Metreon with my friends... so, maybe I'll see you there.
